A big part of the enjoyment of service with GET REAL Involved! is the opportunity to spend time with peers, including riding on the Hyde Park United Methodist bus. In order to enable this part of the experience, a release form is required:
Hyde Park United Methodist Release Form
GET REAL Involved! will coordinate with community service organizations, select a date and post available dates and opportunities on this website, and send out an email communication to all who have signed up via the contact form on this website.
Reservations are made by clicking on the various links on this website. All reservations are confirmed via email.
Part of the enjoyment for students is riding on the bus with fellow volunteers. We arrange transportation via bus or van driven by qualified drivers from Hyde Park United Methodist Church on select dates.
In order to participate, volunteers must register by following the links on the home page for each individual event. If you want to ride on the bus from Hyde Park United Methodist Church you must fill out one important form:
The form is located on the left side bar.
If you prefer not to complete the release form for transportation, you may meet the group at the site on the specified day and time, however you must register to be counted among the GET REAL Involved! group and bring a permission slip with emergency contact information. You must also advise us that you will not be requiring transportation. If you do not there can be no guarantee that service hours will be available to you with the organized event.
For most events, we meet at the Magnolia Building at Hyde Park United Methodist: 414 S. Magnolia Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
We ask students to arrive at least fifteen minutes before the posted start time of the event. We will return within fifteen
minutes of the posted return time. If we run late we will make every
effort to have students call to alert of the delay.
WHAT TO WEAR?
Most sites require closed toed shoes be worn for safety. We will provide a GET REAL Involved! T-Shirt to all volunteers. It is best to wear a hat for outdoor projects, and long pants for indoor projects for safety reasons. There will be additional instructions which will be included on the permission slips so please read carefully.
HOW TO BEHAVE?
Our adult chaperons are well versed in managing Middle and High School students and understand what it means to be one! We are committed to all students having fun while involved in a GET REAL Involved! project. Fun is best had when all are on their best behavior. All students will be expected to adhere to Hillsborough County School conduct policy both in transit and on site. Parents will be called to retrieve any offending students. Our goal is to have fun and to make a difference, this is the spirit in which we hope all will enter the service field.
